Another Pitch for Friday Night Lights

Go watch this interview with actors Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton of Friday Night Lights from this morning's Today Show. Then watch Friday Night Lights tonight. It really is the most under-appreciated new show this year. I was pleased to see NBC promoting it this morning on Today. With a little luck it just might get the second season order it deserves. (For the uninitiated who would like to begin at the beginning, the pilot is available as a free download on iTunes. The most recent 5 episodes can be streamed through NBC's site.)

Studio 60, on the other hand, just needs to be put out of its misery. Better luck next time, Aaron! UPDATE: Funny, looks like I got my wish: one more week of S60 before NBC pulls the plug.

Wasn't it only two weeks ago that you were singing the praises of S60 with some of our guests?

I would also like to comment on this. I still love Studio60 although the recent plot line with Matt pisses me off a little, the show is very well done. And really, do we want to watch 4 Irish brothers beat other people up for an hour (which I am pretty sure the new show is about).

I did TiVo FNL even though I haven't watched the other shows. Maybe Bravo will have another marathon sometime soon.

I'm gonna chime in about S-60 as well... When everyone else liked it at the beginning of the season, I didn't. I didn't at all. After multiple episodes, I didn't care a lick about the characters, and after living and breathing the West Wing characters for years, it was a huge disappointment to not immediately fall in love with this new cast of characters and their neuroses (that's the proper plural - not a typo).

But I kept up with it (which tells of my love of and faith in Sorkin) and it has grown on me. Is it another West Wing? Hell, no. But nothing ever will be.

So I continue to watch, and I am slowly, but surely beginning to care about the characters as their backstories and motivations are exposed.

There's my 2 cents.
